My dearest Captain – Welcome! Do you know where you are? Take a look outside. No, you are not mad, though I am in your head. Only you can hear my voice. Do you wish to see me as well? I am here. This is my true form, claws and teeth. Muscle and bone. Though I have no eyes, I can see as well you. Maybe better.

I wish to congratulate you. Not everyone could have figured out who I was, but I must resent how you shot me. Your mind is so...disappointingly simple. When you find something you can't control, you kill it. I would not have granted your wish; what does death mean to one such as I? You should offer reward, not slaughter, next time you wish something of me.

Don't despair. You are lost, but not forsaken. Oh, you should have seen this place as it was a millenia ago. It was beautiful, the shining spires of floating cities, the magnificence of its music... the breasts on its women. I sampled a bit of everything this place once had.

Now look at it. An endless blackness, an eternal silence occasionally interupted by the howling monsters that lurk between the glowing purple clouds, a gravesite for the wicked. In their arrogance, that believed they could side with Heaven and defeat Evil. How wrong they were.

This is my realm. It is here that you will find my shipyards, my forges and my fleets. I command them all. You should see them sometime; they are like nothing you have ever seen before. When you see them, you will understand how this realm was conquered. Your realm shall be conquered as well.

What are Heaven's clockworks to Hell's demonic engines? We are the engine that drives forth change, not Heaven. It is us that advance the multiverse, it is us that forces Heaven to adapt, it is us that forces shape upon existence. The Architect would be nothing without the Blacksmith.

A funny thing about civilizations; they seldom die easily. Out in the blackness, there are the ancient ruins of cities, and the floating derelicts of once-proud ships. They are all legend.

For my death, I have granted you a task: I want you to find a derelict ship. It is called the Olephasint, and it hides within its halls a terrible secret. You will find this secret. It is the only way home, both for you and your crew.

If you choose to remain here, your ship will be destroyed by the nightmares that call this realm home.

You will lose people. You will have to make sacrifices. But this is as much a test as it is a punishment.

The Olephisint was broken into two halves; I am sending you to the rear section. Once there, I want you to explore it until you discover its secret. Its crew wish to be released.

It's waiting out there, floating in the blackness, calling out to you. It has been waiting for a long, long time. I wish you luck, Captain. I trust you will make the right choices.

I am liking the personality that you've given the speaker. And I can hear the disappointment when he's talking about how he was shot. XD

...you aren't the "captain" in this story, are you? :paranoid: The demon would love for his story to get out!

I generally never add myself as a character in my own writing. It can get pretty uncomfortable/weird if I do.

The captain isn't really defined. Then again, neither is anything else. I want the reader to piece together the plot and setting themselves. It's an experiment.

The demon is telling his story...in his own way.

Oh no no, I didn't mean the captain was a self insert. I was just playing on the demon telling his story and you "having" to write it as he states. And that demon isn't exactly trustworthy. XD I love that we're getting it from him.

Oops, I misunderstood. My bad.

Yes, writing the demon is the fun part. I like using an evil character as a narrator. Sometimes evil is also charismatic. He's not trustworthy, but he is wise, and does speak the truth. Mostly.
