No one tagged me, I just saw this in someone else's journal and wanted to do it. I'm in a writing kind of mood.

1. Choose some of your OCs
2. Make your OCs answer these questions
3. Tag other people
4. Add one question of your own.

I'm choosing Ashley Ashland and Katrin Everhardt, of course.

- How old are you?
A- 25.
K- 31.

-Do you want a hug?
A- Nope nope nope.
K- No.

-Have any bad habits?
A- Other people say I do.
K- That's none of your business. Isn't this question impolite?

You a virgin?
A- Nope!
K- No.

-Have any kids?
A- Oh god no.
K- No.

-Favorite food or drink?
A- Fish and chips, of course.
K- German Reisling, grown in a warm climate. I haven't had any for while.

-Killed anyone?
A- Yes! There was this one time, we were making a run over Gakka or whatever the fuck it's called. It's Japan. We leveled three apartment buildings. We dumped eight-hundred pounds on the fuckers, then circled around and dumped another eight-hundred. Nothin' but rubble. I doubt even a single Jap got out alive. I almost miss those days.
K- Yes. I'll kill anyone who earns the privilege for free, and everyone else for a price.

- Hate anyone?
A- For a price. But if you're a Nazi, I'll hate you for free.
K- You have no fucking idea.

-Any secrets?
A- You're warm and alive, so no.
K- None that I would care to share.

-Love anyone?
*Katrin and Ashley kiss each other*

-What is your job?
K- We work for whoever pays enough, same as everybody else.

-Favorite season?
A- Oooo, that's gotta be summer. That's when Katrin wears --
K- Can it, Ashley.

-Who's your best friend?
K- Isn't it obvious?

A- Building model airplanes.
K- Reading.

-What are you going to do when this tag is over?
A and K- Kill people.

-What is your eye color?
A- Blue.
K- Green.

-Are you good? Or bad?
A- Fucking bad. Wanna see my trophies?
K- ...Ashley, those creep me out.
Does it matter? Everyone does what they must to survive.

-If you could do anything right now what would it be?
A- I'd fly.
K- I think the spirit of the question is meant to include 'things you cannot do', Ashley.
I'd take my life back, but only if it meant I would still meet Ashley.
A- Who loves ya!

-What is your biggest fear?
A- Losing each other.
K- Yeah..

-Does your name have a special meaning?
A- Nope. It's just Ashley.
K- Yes, actually. 'Katrin' is variant of 'Catherine' which means 'pure'. 'Everhardt' means 'brave boar'.
A- ...And my middle-and-index fingers mean 'fuck you', but you don't see me making a big deal of it.

-Any siblings?
A- No. Kathy, you OK?
K- ...

-Where do you live?-
K- Wherever the wind takes us.

-Do you find yourself attractive?
A- It doesn't matter.
K- So speaks someone whose hair rarely sees a brush. I think I'm attractive.
A- It's fine the way it is!
K- One of these days I'm going to make you look good.
A- I already look good.

-What's the stupidest thing you've ever pulled off?
A- Well, there was this one time, I tied Katrin to a --
K- Ashley! That's sharing too much!
A- What? It was funny!
K- What definition of 'funny' would that even fall under?!

-What is your Dream Job?
A- Already livin' it.
K- I believe that whatever you've got, whatever you do, you're already there. It's a matter of attitude.

-What do you consider your greatest talent or strength?
A- Invincibility!
K- You're not actually invincible.
A- Oh yeah? Then how come we're not dead?
K- Pretty sure that's called "luck".
My efficiency is my greatest talent. Every bullet fired should find a mark, every move you make should be calculated in advance --
A- BORING! Seriously, have you tried just winging it for once? C'mon, just do what comes natural!
K- There is a reason my actions do not cause unnecessary collateral damage, including, but not limited to, destroyed buildings.
A- That only happened once! It was a government building! No one cares about the goddamn government!

-Do you believe in god(s)?
K- ....
A- Kathy....
K- I'm fine. Don't worry about it.

I tag no one! I just did this for shits and giggles.

It started tonight. I'm going to be working real late, with a good chance of a couple all-nighters.

I'll try to keep up with things on dA, but if you're waiting for a response and I'm real quiet, then I'm either right behind you with a knife or I'm running our farm's combine.

So I guess Call of Duty is getting yet another reboot. Get this- they're coming full circle and going back to WW2. Yes, really.

The steam page says they're rebooting it for a new generation of gamers.

...I was alive and kicking when CoD was first released. Hell, I played Medal of Honour before that.

Is it just me, or does the industry abandon a fanbase for a new fanbase every ten years or so? I don't think even Hollywood switches audiences that quick.

Any other older gamers feeling a little bit left behind?

Tagged by :icongraceb2004:.  Damn you. I've always feared this day would come.

-Write the rules in your journal entry if you are tagged <--
-Write 13 things about yourself
~Answer 13 questions made by the person who tagged you, and make your own 13 questions.~
-Tag 13 deviants. Make sure they know they are tagged
-Don't say "You're tagged if you read this"
-It is forbidden not to tag anyone.
-No tagging back

13 things about me:
- I hold a certificate in New Media Communications, Micro-electronics and a degree in Computer Science
- Despite that, I farm for a living.
- I also tutor students at a local college.
- I constantly stay up too late.
- Ice cream is the bestest thing ever. It's the whole reason cows exist mammaries in general exist.
- I'm a bit pervy. Modesty in art is for people with no taste. When I'm done, there will be no sanitizing anyone's galleries.
- The biggest machine I've driven is 510 hp from a 13.5L six cylinder and weighs about 19 tons and stands about 12 feet tall.
- My profile is much older than it should be. I didn't start using it for posting anything until the year before last.
- My profile's birthday is my actual birthdate, apparently making me one of the most ancient things on dA.
- I draw, I write, I play the violin, and I used to play paintball. You can never have too many hobbies I guess.
- I once took a creative writing course taught by Guy Vanderhaeghe. Before that, I took one taught by Alan Safarik.
- I've never seen My Little Pony. Running out of facts here.
- I hate politics. All of it. Actually, I hate government, too. Come to think of it, I hate anything to do with hierarchy.

Grace's questions:
1. How long is the longest time you've stayed awake in hours?
36, and not voluntarily. I lost my ability to fall asleep without pills one month a couple years back.
2. What is your favorite flavor?
Damn near anything that is ice cream.
3. Bee onest iz this gud speling?
It all depends on how sober you are.
4. How many times a day do you sneeze?
5. What is the most awkward thing that has ever happened to you?
Oh boy. I once got the days mixed up for a paintball game and accidentally crashed a kid's birthday party. After a 40 minute drive there.
6. Do you play a sport?
I used to play paintball.
7. What is the weirdest compliment that you've recieved?
I'm good at pleasing roosters.
8. Do you prefer to have a helper or work alone?
Depends on the size of the project.
9. If you had to pick one person, who would it be?
I choose myself. Now, what did I just volunteer for?
10. If you were told to write a sentence, and what you said in that sentence dictates whether you live or die, what would you write?
"Fuck you all!"
11. When was the first time that you remember getting sick?
Jeez. Don't know how old I was. Real young.
12. Do you prefer your bed to be firm or soft?
I've never really thought about that. Soft, I guess.
13. At what point during which you were reading this did you realize that it was boring?
Oh, that's just evil. Right from the start.

Ok, now my questions.
1. If you could change lives with one person, who would that be?
2. Just who do you think you are?
3. What's the worst lie you ever told?
4. If you could choose the year of your birth, what year would that be?
5. Are you sure?
6. If answering this question would immediately kill you, would you answer it?
7. Imagine the sound of clowns laughing. How does that make you feel?
8. Have you considered that possibility that perhaps none of this is real, that all of your existence has been a lie, there is no existence at all except that which you pretend exists?
9. Can you lend me, like, five bucks? I promise I'll pay you back.
10. You are in charge of a massive multinational corporation. Your employees do not always respect your Mission Statement. How would you punish their insolence?
11. Would you be upset if I watched you, like, all the time, just staring unblinking, waiting in the dark?
12. If you had the option of finishing me off after a short but dramatic battle, set to music by Mark Petrie, in a thunder-and-lightning rainstorm, would you?
13. You have been tagged. What thirteen questions will you come up with?

Edit: Oops, forgot a couple characters.

Ok, I've been reading through Shikeyy's roleplay journal with the murdercats, and I have reached a very scientific conclusion: ROLEPLAY IS THE BEST FRIGGIN THING EVER!

Seriously, I'm having a lot of fun just reading it.

I have got to try this thing myself. So here it is!

fdn's Roleplay Journal Entry Thingy

Ok, I'm going to use my own writing for this. Since no one reads my webcomic, hopefully because it largely doesn't exist and not because it sucks, I'm going to lay it out for you.

- Alternate history dieselpunk WW2 setting
- WW2 became the apocalypse when both the Axis and the Allies went overboard with superweapons
- Witchcraft is a thing (although many witches have been exterminated)
- The world is run by a select few organized crime families. The Russians and the Chinese are the most powerful.
- People who are poor (or unlucky enough to be in forced labour camps) live on the surface, which presents a very hostile environment. People who are middle class live in the flying cities, or out of converted aircraft (think Mad Max'd mobile homes).

You have relatively little money and are in the flying city of New Paris. You may start off with ONE of the following:

- A Russian TT-33 pistol. You have two bullets remaining in the one magazine in your possession.
- A medical kit
- I decide something random. Some things might be more useful than others....but, everything (in theory) has a use.

Your goal is to accept a job and survive to complete it, since that's how people make money here.

- The Russians have a job available
- The Chinese have a job available
- Karsten has a job available
- Ashley has a job available
- Katrin has a job available
- Caera has a job
- Scarlette has a job

(no one knows my OC's, but that's fine. Should you meet them, you'll get to know them. Or you can ask and I'll give a short description)

I'll track your inventory, if anyone loses track. You may state your actions, but I decide the result.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to watching you die watching you succeed.

My art kinda sucks. That's what I expect it to be, I've only been doing digital art for a little over a year now.

I've recently been given some great advice from :iconkyatt-art:. I'm very far away since I haven't practiced fundamentals since I took a couple of drawing classes a number of years ago. I've since forgotten what I learned, as I never used those skills.

I'm still going to churn out artwork, that is guaranteed. What's going to change (at least for the short run) is that I'm going to divide my time between drawing and studying. It's for the better, it'll improve my skills a lot, which will result in way better artwork.

I already work in my spare time only (and not even all of my spare time, admittedly). I don't do this professionally. I'm still going to try to churn out at least one drawing per month, but we'll see how things go. I've got a lot of work to do.

Oh, and the season is changing and spring is fast approaching. That means I'll be servicing machinery and getting ready for a combined spring harvest/seeding. I might not work on much at all some days, as I'm kinda tired after work. I'll still try to maintain quota, but if I don't... well, I have my reasons.

I just finished changing the oil in my ATV. I farm for a living, and I've seen a lot of crap. There were no less than 6 shields that needed to be removed, just for routine maintenance. Two zerks were pointed toward the interior of the machine. Someone malicious designed this damn thing.

I do it again in another 100 hrs. Yay.

This is not the only machine I've worked on that defies sanity. There are many, many others.

So tonight, I share with you a document I stole from a server somewhere. Few people have shared this document and lived. I cannot share the entire thing for my personal safety and should I turn up dead, understand that this is the cause.

Warning: Under no circumstance can this classified document be shared with civilian personnel, especially mechanics. All hail Grogbart, God of Inconvenience.

Thought for the day: A design that makes mechanics cry is worth your life.

1. Mechanics use their hands, tools and eyes to work on machinery. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall a mechanic be allowed all three. They must be forced to choose only one. ANY ENGINEER WHO VIOLATES THIS DOCTRINE SHALL BE BURNED ALIVE AND HIS ASHES SHALL BE BURNED A SECOND TIME AND THEN WE BURN HIS FUCKING NEIGHBOR'S DOG.

2. The use of mixed imperial and metric fasteners is encouraged. Notes in the manual or other indications of what is used where should ideally be avoided.

3. The use of common fastener heads like robertson or philips is fine, but be sure to randomly use torx or hex for no apparent reason once in a while.

4. In fact, you shall be rewarded in Hell if you invent a completely new type of fastener that requires special proprietary tools.

Chilling, I know. This is what the teach engineers in college.

Hoo boy, cold day 2. Its new mission is to rob the host of his voice (it failed, but damn good try) and to prepare for the cough and phlegm stage (kinda like shock and awe, only the speeches are not written by a five-year-old). Really feeling like crap.

I've got a picture in the works right now, it's almost half done. It's my first hand-drawn background, and so far it looks OK. I didn't think I'd be able to draw a background that well. I'll post the finished drawing this week and see what people think.   :)

I've woken up today with a cold virus. Its agenda is the same as all the others.

Mission 1!
Primary Objective: Sore throat, plant sense of dread, establish beachhead from which to launch further attacks
Secondary Objective: Drain host of all will to live

So it begins. War is coming, in all its glory and all its horror. Cry havoc, and unleash the cells of war! Spare none, not even innocent, infected cells! Let nothing stand when we are done. Attack endlessly, our wasteland awaits! Take not one step backward! Traitors will be shot! Defend my ability to swallow or talk without discomfort at absolutely all costs! I have shit to do this week, dammit!

So I'm feeling like utter crap. I caught it off someone else, and it sure hit them hard. I hate this. It's the oldest war in history, this battle between cells and virii, and I DON'T REMEMBER FUCKING VOLUNTEERING FOR THIS. Seriously, why don't they leave me the hell out of this? Just because I'm multicellular, complex life with mitochondrii does not give a cold virus the right to invade whenever it feels like it.

I likely won't get nearly as much work done as I'd like this week. So sorry! I'm at least going to try to pump out a drawing or two for practice, but this thing is really kicking my ass and it only began this morning. Stupid incubation period. Yeah, a delayed attack so I can see someone else go through all the stages beforehand so I know what I can look forward to. So clever!

Stupid cold.

I've got some renders out. Better late than never.

There still some work to be done. A couple more cables for the terminal, a plant to go in the pot, materials for the pot, a newspaper....  not too much.

These were rendered with no lights set up except a single point light which I used to show specular highlights on things.

Opinions welcome!

Alright, maybe I exaggerated a bit. I have to model some cables for a fictional computer and a newspaper. I thought they would be easy and I'd be setting up lights and doing some renders that night. Nope nope nope didn't happen.

The cables refused to cooperate and I ran out of time last night. I gotta sleep at some point in my life.

I'm trying again tonight. I have a pretty good idea what I did wrong.

Ok, so I've got a problem. 3D backgrounds take time to build, but my results are a little less than perfect. Someone in the forum pointed out that they look sterile and don't fit in with the 2D graphics. They're absolutely right. They didn't say it this way, but I will: my 3D graphics suck.

The original models had only materials applied, but no textures. The current scene has textures, which improve things quite a bit. Still not perfect, but better. Another problem is I just rendered the images: no effort was made to improve the result.

I'm having to face some reality here. I do way more 2D work than 3D, so my 2D skill is increasing a lot faster than my 3D. That gap isn't going to go away anytime soon.

Here's what I'm going to do:

I like 3D modelling, so I want to give it one last chance. That, and the current scene is already built. I'm going to improve the lighting in the scene, go through some tutorials on cell shaded graphics in Blender to better integrate the 2D and 3D graphics, learn a bit about Blender's freestyle feature (which can makes things look more cartoony) and I'm going to read a short book on Blender's compositor.

The compositor has the ability to add numerous effects, some of which are designed to introduce imperfections to the image. One big reason the scenes look sterile is the image is perfectly rendered. As humans, we're not used to seeing mathematically perfect anything in real life or in real pictures. There's normally flaws, such as scratches or dust on the camera lens. When we get an image with no imperfections at all, our brains automatically notice that something isn't right. The scene looks artificial and lacks life.

I'll apply that knowledge to the current scene. If my work improves greatly, I'm going to continue. If not, I'm going to draw all my backgrounds in 2D.

Fingers crossed.

Just about done the next scene. Well, the setting anyway. Just need a couple more models built and I'll be all set.

Incidentally, I've also been working on scripts for not only the next scene, but a few others as well. :)

Very soon I'll be planning my first (proper) comic page! No more tiny microupdates. I'm going to post entire pages from now on. Oh, and the writing is going to get better from here on in. I promise! Either that, or I'll eat my writing hat.

I'm also thinking of trying hand-drawn backgrounds. I wanted to do 3D models as it would be relatively unique and I hate drawing backgrounds, especially if there is a lot of small details in the scene. It's a lot of work though. If I get around to it, I might create a (small) side comic to see what I can do.

Oh, and I got something nice for early Christmas! A violin!! A nice one, too. Yes, it does mean some of my free time will be spent squealing on strings instead of drawing boobs, but I've really wanted to do this for a while now. So here goes nothing! I won't let it cut too much into this project.

Anyway, I hope to get new stuff posted early next month. I hope you all like it!

Awwww its been a less than good month. I suck.

Just finished this last page for the first scene now. Bleh, there are worse things. I changed Karsten's eye colour, I think this will look a bit better. I'm also doing Ashley's eyes a bit differently too. Wip kinda stuff.

Anyway, I've got a bit of 3D modelling work to do, then I'll be able to start the next scene. Which I haven't finished writing yet.

Going to be bit before I get anything out as usual, unless I manage to sneak in a Halloween picture before the month is through. We'll see.

Also, I'm going to shift gears a bit. I'm changing the format to a more comic-booky one, which will require some changes to the way I do my storyboard work. I only used this weird single-frame format because I imagine everything visually and that just kinda translated into 'screenshots' of different things. It makes for crappier updates, as you wait a long time only to receive only a very very very tiny portion of a scene. Tons of work for me, for very little for you. Not very good. I'm better off giving more content per update, sooooo yeah. Bigger updates in future.

Cheers! Happy Halloween! Update coming next month if things go to plan!

By reusing old art. Yep, I'm going to be that damn cheap.

I just spent the last week making a new custom font out of my writing. So things are a little slow.

I'm reusing as much old art as a I can to speed things up. I meant to have a chapter done every year, but that's just not happening thus far.

After this scene (which will only last another four pages), I'll be busy building the background for the next scene. It will take a while, hopefully only a couple of weeks. I'm also going to change the format so it's more like a comic book and less like a bunch of individual panels. It's going to be more work for me, but I think it'll be well worth it.

It's been, what, a month now. Feels like two maybe.

No matter. I've posted another short story. Go. Read. Maybe even comment.

I'm going to shift gears again. As of late, I've dragged out some drawing tools (which I'm not so good with) and my old tablet and stylus (which I'm slightly better at). I'm going to practice drawing for bit, as I've had a story bouncing around in my head for long enough that it brought its luggage and moved in. I think I'll keep it as a pet.

If I can get my drawing ability at least back to what I had when I was in high school, then I'm going to write a new story. This time, I'm going back to my roots with comics. Maybe maybe I'll be able to churn something out. It's going to have a combination of 2D hand drawn characters and 3D backgrounds.

Listen to 'What You Need (Instrumental)' by Les Friction. It's my muse for this project.
